Your Name in Graffiti is proud to announce the completion of the New Worlds of Globeville Pool mural at Argo Park.

The YNIG team is the first aerosol (graffiti) artists to be commissioned by the City of Denver for a public art project. YNIG was chosen out of twenty potential candidates to paint the pool back in March 2007. Painting was set for March 2008 to be completed in time for the opening of the pool in June.

The project took about a full year, which is relatively quick in city terms, and the artwork was completed in 11 days in March. Through cold days that turned into hot days and cold days that stayed cold and occasionally turned into rain or snow, the YNIG team painted with determination and perseverance to stay on schedule. The team had visitors from the neighborhood during the painting process and everyone showed support and were happy to see the addition to the neighborhood.

The dedication of the mural took place on June 4^th, 2008.  Local graffiti artist were invited to come display their skills and added to the celebration. In addition to the local artist, the Globeville Civic association supplied cakes and Kaffine Buzz dropped off some refreshments. Local youth turned out and participants of YNIG’s Graffiti Art education program got to see the positives of being a professional artist. Dj Skip Ripkin bumped hip-hop into the evening and everything got packed up before the rain started to fall. A good portion of the DOCA staff turned out and there was even a state representative who stopped by. The dedication was a successful end to a successful project.

 The mural and concept were created by Wiser, Dread and Kanz and the project management and documentation was overseen by Lemon.
